In 1908, Marquis Mills Converse started his business on the rubber market. Initially, his company was manufacturing tyres, and Converse was doing quite well in rubber processing. Soon after, he opened a footwear factory in Malden, Massachusetts. At first, the company was producing rubber rain and snow boots for both adults and children. Two years later, the company changed its policy and started focusing on sports footwear.

Converse women's sneakers boom
The 1960s were the golden years of the brand that expanded its offer with new colour options. It was also at that time that a new music genre - rock and roll - was born. Rock and roll fans soon discovered that Converse shoes perfectly fit in with a pair of jeans and a leather jacket, and this is how popularity of the sneakers started to grow, slowly becoming part of the subculture. In the following years, the brand started producing suede and leather shoes as well, designed for both basketball and everyday use. Naturally, all the models enjoyed a great success, and the company was steadily growing in popularity around the world. In the 1980s, Converse gained yet another group of fans - punks, who identified themselves with the brand and adopted sneakers as part of their fashion and culture.
